SonicWALL Client Anti-Virus Detects VNC as Generic PUP
On September 15, 2008, new DAT files for SonicWALL Enforced Client Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware contained a new classification for VNC Server version 4. All DAT files since that date continue to treat VNC server as malware, which requires action by administrators of networks who use VNC. The problem is triggered by running the VNC Server application (filename is winvnc4.exe), or by refreshing the directory that contains the application. Last week, we began detecting VNC Server as a “Generic PUP.” Currently, it is detected as “Remadm-vncview”.
See attached to add a Mcafee Group Policy, to exclude the VNC folder.
