Aruba Networks / Factory Reset an Aruba Switch
January 31, 2019, 05:09:56 PM
(PUTTY RESET METHOD)
To restore the factory default configuration using the console, putty in and execute
erase startup-config

(HARDWARE RESET METHOD)
To execute the factory default reset on the switch, perform these steps:
1. Using pointed objects, simultaneously press both the Reset and Clear buttons on the front of the switch.
2. Continue to press the Clear button while releasing the Reset button.
3. When the Global Status LED begins to fast flash orange (after approximately 5 seconds), release the Clear
button.
4. The switch will then complete its boot process and begin operating with its configuration restored to the factory default settings.

(NOTES)
As part of your troubleshooting process on the switch, it may become necessary to return the switch configuration to the factory default settings. This process momentarily interrupts the switch operation, clears any passwords, clears the console event log, resets the network counters to zero, performs a complete self test, and reboots the switch into its factory default configuration, including deleting the IP address, if one is configured.
NOTE: This process removes all switch configuration changes made from the factory default
settings. This includes, for example, configuration of VLANs, spanning tree, trunks, and stacking.
Returning the configuration of these features to their factory default settings (usually disabling them)
may result in network connectivity issues. If the switch has a valid configuration, and you are restoring the factory default settings for a reason other than configuration problems, you should save the switch configuration prior to performing the factory default reset. After the reset and resolution of the original problem, you can restore the saved configuration to the switch.

(TO SETUP A NEW ARUBA S1500-12P, S1500-24P or S1500-48P DATA SWITCH)
1. Power On and boot the Mobility Access Switch.
2. Connect a client device (such as a laptop) to the Mobility Access Switch using any Ethernet port in the front. Ensure that DHCP is enabled on the client device and that it is not connected to any other
network.
3. For the S1500 Mobility Access Switch, press and hold the MODE button for 10 seconds or until the four mode status LEDs turn solid green to activate the GUI Quick Setup mode.
5. Confirm that the client device has the IP address in the following range 172.16.0.[1-253] and the DHCP
server has the IP address 172.16.0.254.
6. Open a web browser and enter 172.16.0.254 into the address bar to launch the WebUI Startup Wizard.
7. Follow the on-screen prompts to fill in the required fields to complete the configuration (see Table 1).

You must complete the WebUI Startup Wizard within 10 minutes of invoking GUI Quick-setup mode, else the Mobility Access Switch no longer functions as a DHCP server; you must begin the process again. The timer in the top right corner of the WebUI displays the time remaining.

(HOW TO GET MAC ADDRESS AND SERIAL NUMBER)
1. Putty in and run
2. Enable
3. Show inventory
